Can i have laser eye correction?
- You need to discuss this with your optician or eye surgeon in respect of what difference it would make to your vision. I have worn gl es for a large number of years and quite frankly just got "fed up" with them so at my last eye test I discussed the options with the optician including laser surgery. Although it is possible for me to have surgery because of the angle of my astigmatism, I still would not have 20 / 20 vision and would have to wear reading gl es so I have opted for contact lenses and just reading gl es for close work i. e. reading, writing, computer work etc. , Explore ALL possible options before deciding which one to opt for
- I've heard of implants and am seriously considering them because I am v short sighted and the cost of specs is exorbitant. The op should pay for itself in savings over the years
- Best thing to do is see a doctor. Do yoru research first on the doctor and watch for hidden prices. There are several different types of surgeries they can do. Though do realize you even if you have the surgery, doesnt mean your going to have 20 / 20 vision. As strong as yours is you will tell a diffference but I do not think you will get 20 / 20 out of it. And you may still have to go back for updates every couple of years
- Laser eye surgery is the most commonly practiced procedure to correct vision problems caused by refractive errors, including myopia near - sightedness, hyperopia far - sightedness and astigmatism distorted vision when looking at objects at any distance. More recently, laser eye surgery has also been used to correct presbyopia the inability to focus on nearby objects, which is part of normal aging and can be corrected by using reading gl es. All of these conditions are caused by problems with the way the eye focuses an image on the retina, which is the light - sensitive layer at the back of the eye. A large part of the eye's ability to focus depends on the shape of the cornea, the clear front surface of the eye
- With that type of prescription you are unlikely to be accepted for laser surgery. However permanently implanted contact lenses may be a possibility. I would suggest that you discuss this with your optician
- Definitely you can !
- The only way to know for sure is talk to your eye doctor. 1st of all it depends on our age if your under 21ish you're probably too young and if your prescription has stabilized. If your eye doctor says they think you would be a candidate, ask them on places they would feel comfortable having theirs done. You will then go for a consultation appt and they will tell you for sure if you qualify or not based on your prescription, the shape & thickness of your cornea, etc. Make sure you ask about all fees. One place I looked into charges a fee for the surgery and then an additional $500. 00 6 months afterward. If you do end up qualifying and decide to do it, I would go with the custom package which does cost a little more but I feel in the long run it's worth it since they are usually guaranteed for life
